Mowing

Weekly mowing is one of the most important parts to maintaining a beautiful lawn.  Little details like sharpening the blades on our mowers daily, to edging and trimming at each service, set Pro Cut apart and gives your lawn that pristine appearance that you expect from a professional contractor.

  • Our weekly mowing service includes:

    • Mowing of all turf areas

    • Line-trimming around any trees, landscape features, utility items, fences, structures, etc

    • Edging of paved areas such as curbs, driveways, sidewalks and patios

    • Grass clippings blown from paved areas and landscape beds if necessary

    • Grass clippings are always collected as needed, especially in tight areas or on small yards.  In larger areas the clippings will be discharged or mulched conditions allow to reduce the environmental impact of clipping removal.

  • We also offer finish-cut lot and wide area mowing

Fertilizer

and Weed Control

Over the years we have tailored our application program to provide the most value to our customers while giving your lawn the nutrients it needs to keep the grass healthy and weed pressure low.  Cultural practices such as mowing at the proper height (3.5" and up on fescue) and infrequent but deep watering, combined with the proper nutrient applications, will result in a pristine lawn that will be the talk of the neighborhood.

Our standard fertilizer program is as follows:

  • Early Spring - Application of herbicide to control broadleaf weeds and prevent crabgrass

  • Late Spring- Application of fertilizer blended with herbicide for season long crabgrass control

  • Early Summer- Apply a light rate of fertilizer to feed the lawn through the summer.  Optional grub control application at this time.

  • Early Fall- This is a moderate fertilizer application to boost the grass to repair damage it sustained during the summer heat.  This can be combined with aeration or verti-cut seeding to ensure your lawn is pristine next season.

  • Late Fall- Commonly called winterizer, this is the last application of the year.  It is also the heaviest feeding.  This is the best time to feed the grass because it puts the nutrients into root development instead of growth.  We also will spot spray broadleaf weeds at this time if necessary.

  • Additional applications are available if necessary, such as fungicide and insecticide.

  • Program will vary for warm season yards such as bermuda or zoysia.

Aeration

and Seeding

Aeration is one of the most beneficial services for your lawn.  Aeration removes soil compaction by removing plugs of soil from the lawn.  The holes left by this operation also allow nutrients, water and air to get farther into the root zone where they are most beneficial.  Lastly, as the plugs of soil break down they help to decompose the thatch layer.  Seed can also be during fall aeration to increase the overall thickness of the grass.

Overseeding is recommended to fill in thin spots due to high traffic, shade, or if the lawn experienced significant heat stress or fungus problems.  During this process seed is spread over the lawn and then incorporated with a machine called a verticutter.  In extreme cases, sometimes it is necessary to make an additional pass with the verticutter prior to applying seed.

The best weed control for the next season is a thick, healthy lawn.  These two services are two of the most beneficial ways to achieve that.

Cleanups

Spring and Fall

Our detailed spring and fall cleanups are another thing that sets Pro Cut apart from the competition. During our spring cleanup, we can trim back ornamental grasses, remove leaves from all areas of the property, and mow the lawn short to prepare it for a fresh start. Spring cleanups are completed in early March, prior to the first weed control application.

Fall cleanups are also an important step in maintaining your lawn. As soon as leaves begin to fall in October, we blow out the curb, around fences and buildings, and landscape beds prior to mowing so the property is completely free of leaves during each weekly visit until the end of the season.
